The collaboration between Kygo and Rita Ora will be released this Friday and will be featured on the official soundtrack for Pokémon: Detective Pikachu.
With less than a month to go before the release of the video game crossover film Pokémon: Detective Pikachu, Norwegian tropical house producer Kygo announced his upcoming collaboration with Rita Ora will be featured on the original soundtrack and released this Friday. At the time of writing, they’ve disclosed the song title, “Carry On,” and its release date.
Considering Rita Ora’s long history of dance music collaborations, “Carry On” has the makings of another main stage rocker. In November, the 28-year-old vocalist dedicated her last album to the late Avicii.
Kygo (real name Kyrre Gørvell-Dahll) has been hard at work as of late, with the recent release of a music video for his track “Think About You” featuring an appearance from Dylan Sprouse.
“Carry On” is not the only dance music crossover related to the upcoming movie. In a trailer for the film, Diplo made a brief cameo DJing in a club scene. He said that his upcoming appearance in the movie “… is the first time my kids have ever thought i’m cool.”
“Carry On” by Kygo and Rita Ora will be available worldwide on Friday, April 19th.

Picture this. You went out the night before and had 10 shots of tequila, 4 beers, 2 rum and cokes, 1 whiskey ginger, and maybe an Irish Car Bomb. Then the next morning you wake up with THE WORST headache of your life and all you can smell is alcohol. Your whole body aches and the only thing you crave is 7 gallons of water. This is known as the legendary hangover. Most of us are all too familiar with it, but a game changing substance is in the works and could make the hangover a thing of the past.
David Nutt, a drug scientist and professor at London’s Imperial College, has come up with a “synthetic alcohol” that is hangover free. Dubbed “Alcosynth“, the purpose of the substance is to mimic the euphoric effects of alcohol minus headache, nausea, vomiting, and pain.
The creation of this substitute substance has been ten years in the making. After experimenting with 80 different substances, Nutt’s team has narrowed down the selection to five. The one that best mimics the way alcohol works but poses less of a threat on the brain will be submitted to the Food Standard Agency (Britain’s equivalent of the FDA) as a cutting edge food ingredient.
How does this work one may ask? The answer lies in the fact that alcosynth is void of acetaldehyde which is the substance that is responsible for hangovers. The build up of acetaldehyde causes the symptoms of the regrettable condition so many of us fear.
According to Nutt, the plan is to have alcosynth in 100 bars by 2020 and have alcohol replaced by it by 2050. This is quite a feat as his team needs $11.8 million to have safety checks done in order to have the substance certifiably safe for human consumption.
In an interview with The Independent Nutt said,
“It will be there alongside the scotch and the gin, they’ll dispense the alcosynth into your cocktail and then you’ll have the pleasure without damaging your liver and your heart. They go very nicely into mojitos. They even go into something as clear as a Tom Collins. One is pretty tasteless, the other has a bitter taste.”
In the meantime party hard but drink responsibly.

Black Tiger Sex Machine Unveils “Artificial Intelligence” as the Thirst for Upcoming Album IntensifiesBy Real EDM — 1 year ago
This new track is heavy but bright at the same time.
Black Tiger Sex Machine is made up of three electronic producers hailing from Montreal, Canada. Julian Maranda, Marc Chagnon, and Patrick Barry are the men behind the masks who have escalated to stardom via their heavy, post-apocalyptic, rock-influenced sound. These tigers are also known for their insane, energetic live sets that have never fail to have the entire audience chanting “BTSM! BTSM! BTSM!”.
This group has also founded their own independent label called Kannibalen Records, which has signed names including Dabin, Kai Wachi, Apashe, and Snails. These sound pioneers have brought you some of your favorite tracks such as “Hell Motel“, “Lions” with YOOKiE, and “Madness” with Sullivan King off of their upcoming album, New Worlds.
This week, the trio is debuting two new singles in preparation of their newest album which will be released on Friday. On Wednesday, “Artificial Intelligence” was introduced via Youtube, SoundCloud, and iTunes. This song starts out slow with trance-like synths before dropping into a dark and dirty chorus. This song is a little slower paced than a majority of their songs, but it still does a stellar job of showcasing their signature sound. For the second drop, lighter violin tones accompany the futuristic tone which gives it a brighter feel. Don’t be fooled though, this song is still perfect for headbanging.
If you want to see Black Tiger Sex Machine live, their brand new Ceremony Tour kicks off this Friday along with the release of their new album. This tour will stop in more than 20 cities in North America where the tigers will perform with a new custom stage design. This stage will give them complete control of the lights both on and around the stage, as well as their helmets, meaning that the lights for the entire show are not pre-programmed.
Artists from Kannibalen Records will be the support for the entire tour: Apashe, Kai Wachi, Sullivan King, and Lektrique. Check out dates and cities for the Ceremony Tour below, and click here for tickets!

Max Styler & TWERL go color blind
Max Styler is thriving in this industry! Max, along with Australia-based Twerl have collaborated again, this time on an official remix for Diplo & Lil Xan‘s “Color Blind” on Mad Decent/Columbia Records.
The talented artists have taken the bass line and transformed it into a funky summer beat. Lil Xan’s vocals have been preserved with unique and vibrant key sounds that highlight the stylings of both Max and Twerl.
The San Luis Obispo native could not hide his excitement when he talked about this release: “I was stoked to work on this track with Twerl as we’ve had a great workflow this year with our past two releases. I’m super happy it came out as an official Diplo remix! Hope you like it as much as we do” – says Max.
I respect that the two didn’t go overboard on trying to transform the track. They merely gave it a quick refresh. In the past, they both have worked together on a single called “Wasted Time” released on Elysian Records this March. These two are proving to be quite the dynamic duo.
Max Styler’s rise to success has taken off in just a matter of years. Since being signed on Dim Mak when he was only 18 years old, Styler’s unique sound and impeccable production skills have earned him both commercial appeal and underground clout. His track “Roller Coaster” rose to number three on the Beatport charts during its first week, followed by the epic “Knock Me Down” with MAKJ and his three track “Gold” and “Deep Dream” remix package. Last year, he experimented with whimsical melodies and vocals on “Secrets” featuring CXLOE and “Heroes” with Nevve, before putting out the dancefloor-friendly “All Your Love” as his first track of 2018.
This kid has no plans of slowing down! Just two weeks ago he released his collaborative single with KRANE – “Changes“, and then (only 3 days later) teamed up with Steve Aoki, Deorro, and MAKJ for “Shakalaka” on Ultra Records. Keep your ears open for this one.
