Net Neutrality under Title II classification is over. The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) voted 3-2 in favor of repealing the 2015 Net Neutrality Order today. The set of laws which required all wire, cable, radio, and internet providers to not show discrimination or preference towards any person or company- aka “no paid prioritization”- is now no longer in place. FCC Chairman Ajit Pai who proposed the plan believes this vote will benefit everyone. “Prior to 2015, before these regulations were imposed, we had a free and open internet,” Pai said in an interview. “That is the future as well under a light touch, market-based approach. Consumers benefit, entrepreneurs benefit. Everybody in the internet economy is better off with a market-based approach.”
In case you aren’t sure what this all means, let’s break it down. Basically, net neutrality gives people equal access to all websites, as long as it isn’t illegal dark web content. You have a service provider and pay a flat rate for access to the entire internet freely. With the repeal of NN, internet providers will have the choice to make your internet experience become more similar to a cable subscription, fixing prices how they see fit. This could limit your access to how many websites you can reach based on the internet package you have. This is extremely troubling for marginalized groups who are already deep in the digital divide and lack-of-access communities.
There isn’t any guarantee that the IP’s will choose to do this, but the tidbit is that they now actually have the choice to do that with no NN laws restricting them. “If we don’t have net neutrality protections that enforce tenets of fairness online, you give internet service providers the ability to choose winners and losers,” Steve Huffman, chief executive of Reddit, said in an interview. “This is not hyperbole.”
This doesn’t mean any changes are going to take hold right away, but over time we may start to. “Your internet Thursday afternoon (today) will not change in any significant and substantial way,” Michael Powell, president of NCTA-The Internet and Television Association, stated prior to the vote.
FCC Commissioner Jessica Rosenworcel, who voted against Pai’s proposal, stated, “What this proposal would do is it would give broadband providers the legal right and the power to start blocking websites, or censoring content if they don’t have a commercial relationship with that content. And so the open internet as we know it could change. Perhaps not immediately, but over time. And I think that’s troubling.”

Brooklyn rapper 6ix9ine’s arraignment is set for today.
Daniel Hernandez, known professionally as 6ix9ine, was reportedly arrested last night in New York City. The 22-year-old Brooklyn rapper faces federal racketeering and firearms charges. His arraignment is set for later in the day.
According to TMZ, Hernandez was detained along with his former manager, Kifano Jordan A.K.A. Shottie and an associate named Faheem Walter A.K.A. Crippy. When Hernandez faces the judge in Manhattan federal court more details of his alleged offenses will come to light, writes The Daily Beast.
Last night’s arrest added to a growing list of charges faced by Hernandez. He was taken into custody in July for allegedly choking a 16-year-old in a Houston mall six months prior. Last month he was sentenced to four years probation for the “use of a child in a sexual performance” stemming from a 2015 incident. Last week, Hernandez took a plea deal and was conditionally discharged for the alleged assault of a police officer.
It remains to be seen whether 6ix9ine’s arrest will interrupt his tour schedule, which is slated to continue with a performance at Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Arizona on November 23rd.

22-year-old Dutch wunderkind Martin Garrix is a huge workaholic continuously pumping out original music and collabing with superstars across the whole music industry. It’s almost like he’s a robot with the rate he’s been going. Just a short week ago, Garrix shared ‘No Sleep‘ featuring Bonn with us, which has already amassed 2 million views on YouTube. Prior to that, he teamed with Season 12 America’s Got Talent Semifinalist Mike Yung for ‘Dreamer‘. As well as working with David Guetta, Khalid, and more during 2018.
This past weekend Martin sat down at Ultra Australia for an quick chat with Sin Howard from George Nights. During that time he broke the news that he has tons of new music for us. Some that are just waiting to find the right features, and some with his friends and people he wrote them with. Also revealed his next single should be ready for us just before summertime. Garrix left us with a huge bomb at the end, revealing if he had the opportunity to collab with anyone, Pharrell Williams would be at the top of the list.
Can Martin Garrix fans make it til the summer for new music? Will we ever get a Martin Garrix X Pharrell Williams track? We’ll just have to wait and see. Upcoming at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, we’ll have the pleasure of seeing Garrix closing out the mainstage Saturday March 30th and possibly catch him doing a surprise set on Sunday March 31st on his own STMPD RCRDS stage. Just like Ultra normally is, we expect to hear tons of new music from every artist playing that weekend. Our eyes and ears will be wide open and eager to see what Martin has in store for us. Until then, let’s enjoy his most recent release ‘No Sleep’ featuring Bonn!
