It’s all about diversification. Artists seem to be finding new and clever ways to market themselves. This holds true for Kaskade and Marshmello, who will perform at a series of EDM graduation concerts known as Grad Bash. Beginning in 2018, Universal Studios has steered into the EDM craze and gotten on board in their own way.
We can all agree – our graduations would have been much more festive with prime talent such as these two. In addition to Kaskade and Marshmello, Jason Derullo will also join the festivities.
The Grad Bash series will begin Friday, May 17th at Universal Studios, Hollywood. Senior graduates will sift in to the park beginning at 5:00pm, then will have exclusive access to the DJ performances from 8pm-2am. This is in addition to exclusive park performances, discounts, ride events, and much more – sounds epic! It also seems like a safe and innovative way to expose youths to the culture minus the negative influences – win-win.
You can view more on this exciting event from the Universal Studios Youth Programs page here. Below, check out the official hype video for the EDM graduation concert series Grad Bash!

Jason Ross- Rooms EP
Back in October of 2014, Above & Beyond graced Madison Square Garden for an iconic performance to celebrate their 100th episode of Group Therapy. During their set, they premiered a track titled ‘Atlas’, an absolute floor rocker that, to this day, is in any Anjunabeats playlist. One of the producers behind that track was LA-based producer Jason Ross. Fast forward to today and we’ve seen him release countless anthems while also touring with the likes of A&B and Seven Lions. Today, we see him reach a new height as he sees the release of his highly anticipated concept EP ‘Rooms’.
The ‘Rooms’ EP consists of six tracks, or “Rooms”, each representing a major milestone or moment in Jason’s life. Since the release of ‘Atlas’, the LA-based producer has showcased his constantly evolving sound. This new EP spotlights where Jason is, and where he will go. In Jason’s own words:
“The Rooms concept is a representation of the evolution of me as a person and artist. Each room represents a pinnacle growing point in my life that has brought me to where I am today.”
The 6-track EP flows effortlessly between each track. The opening track ‘Rooms’ is a wonderfully ambient intro track with downtempo production; a perfect warm up track for what’s to come. ‘Close Your Eyes’, the second track which features ‘Ocean’ vocalist Jonathan Mendelsohn, quickly ignites heartfelt energy to the EP. Mendelsohn’s warm and catchy vocals breathe life into this progressive beauty.
As we move to the third and fourth tracks of the EP, we see Jason hit hard with his powerful anthemic production we’ve grown accustom to. The third track, ‘East of Eden’, proves Jason’s range in production has evolved while ‘The Gorge’, appropriately named after where his monstrous ABGT250 set with Seven Lions took place, features psy-trance duo Dimibo. This track is not only powerful, but blends trance and psy-trance painlessly. It’s easily the heaviest track on the EP.
The final two tracks are serene downtempo compositions that wind-down the EP. ‘IOU’ features Emilie Brandt, an emerging vocalist with a soft and euphoric voice. The track exudes a warm, yet heart wrenching feeling. The production and vocals are soft, yet the words cut deep. The final track, titled ‘New Dawn’, closes out the EP. As it closes the EP, it also signifies a new beginning for Jason Ross. The track is beautifully woven together, with Ross’ signature vocal samples in the background.
Life is a long and wild journey, Jason Ross probably knows this better than most. His new concept EP ‘Rooms’ is out now while his Rooms Tour kicks off tonight at Exchange LA. The tour continues through the middle of March and you can buy tickets here. You can also follow Jason on all streaming platforms here. In the meantime, check out his ‘Rooms’ EP below.

It seems that Londoners just might be one of the highest-consuming cocaine cities of this planet. Eels in the Thames River are becoming hyperactive due to high levels of the substance polluting the city’s waste water.
Scientists at King’s College London have found that citizens use the class A drug immensely during the week and on weekends. They fear this is hurting the river’s wildlife, and the eels seem to prove that.
According to King’s College, “concentrations of cocaine and benzoylecgonine remained high in waste water across the week with only a minor increase over the weekend.” Leaks have been found constantly entering the river. A possible explanation for the high results could be the levels of substance found in urine.
The problem is getting worse as caffeine, cocaine, and benzoylecgonine continue to overflow the sewers. London’s water treatment plans fail to filter out the drug during their water purification processes. The torrential downpours also overwhelm waste plants and pollute the sewers with even more toxic water.
James Robson, a senior curator at Sea Life London, explained that “drugs which affect us will almost always affect all animal life, and invertebrates a little bit more because their biochemistry is much more sensitive.”
The effect cocaine is having on the eels is not brand new news, either. Back in June 2018, researchers from the University of Naples Federico II studied the effects of cocaine on eels. They put them in water with drug residue and found that the drug drastically changed their bodies and behavior. All main body functions (muscles, hormones, and brain) became altered after exposure.
While the eels may seem to be getting high, the real issue is the city’s waste water treatment plan. You get what you pay for. and perhaps London needs to step up their water game.
It’s funny to think that these marine creatures who hold history in this environment are tweaking out. London, save the eels and do less!

It is so terribly sad that this has become such a huge problem in our society today. It breaks my heart that the days of feeling free at music festivals are long gone. However, in turn, it’s so great that law enforcement is putting so much effort to make attendees feel safe.
In the wake of the tragic Las Vegas shooting that killed 59 and left more than 500 injured, the Miami Police Department is reworking its security measures for the upcoming Ultra Music Festival this month.
The Vegas shooter opened fire on the crowd of Route 91 Harvest Festival from the 32nd floor of Mandalay Bay Resort Hotel and Casino.
Since Ultra takes place in Bayfront Park in downtown Miami, this has become a great concern. The festival is surrounded by high rise condos and hotels.
Between traffic adjustments and bus rerouting, representatives for MPD and Ultra explained their plans for responding to a “mass casualty” situation. Additionally, each of the skyscrapers surrounding Bayfront Park will be assigned a number. Officers will use the numbers to quickly identify where a hypothetical gunman could be posted in the event of a shooting. SWAT teams will also be present during the event.
MPD also detailed other security measures and information about road closures and related topics. To prevent drugs or firearms from entering the park, the festival will enforce a clear-bag policy. Amnesty boxes will be placed at the gate for attendees to surrender any drugs or weapons to the police. No questions asked.
Police will also monitor entrances and use exit chutes to eject anyone causing trouble. The festival will again use Formula E racing fences to secure the grounds, which have been enforced since 2014, when a mob of gate-crashers trampled a security guard.
Hopefully, all attendees can experience a worry-free, fun, and exciting weekend, without feeling scared or in danger.
Traffic rerouting will begin Thursday, March 22nd. This will include the closure of northbound Biscayne Boulevard from Chopin Plaza to NE Fourth Street. Traffic will return to normal on Monday morning, after the festival. The festival will take place Friday, March 23rd, through Sunday, March 25th, 2018.
If you haven’t already got your tickets, you can do so here.
