One of dance music’s most notable groups is calling it quits. In an interview with Complex magazine, Diplo revealed that his Major Lazer group will put out its final album next year. Diplo has spread himself quite thin as of late, with his solo projects in addition to the uncertain Jack U and now Silk City and LSD. In making the announcement Diplo spoke on the difficulties in the industry today:
Music is so fast nowadays. It’s like we’re in a hip-hop cycle all the time; a new rapper comes out and careers last like two years these days
Major Lazer became so popular at one point it spawned its own TV show, complete with banging soundtrack. With Skrillex making his big return soon, might that promised Jack U follow up be back in the cards? Who knows. Diplo says there is a lot to come between now and the end so we’ll have to stay tuned.

Excision and Dion Timmer share their latest single “Bones” one day before its release.
With just under 100 days to go until the dubstep world migrates to Lost Lands, Excision and Dion Timmer are gearing up to release a joint EP to help prepare listeners for the ensuing chaos. Ahead of Friday’s Breaking Through EP release, the minds behind the madness were kind enough to share their newest single “Bones,” one day early.
If you’re even remotely familiar with Excision (real name Jeff Abel) or Dion Timmer, you’ll immediately recognize the duo’s special blend of overwhelming bass and infectious vocals. The raw power that comes from their sound design has continued to delight fans – while simultaneously creating the need for increased appointments to their local chiropractor.
Even though the two artists began working together when Dion Timmer wasn’t even old enough to drive, over the past couple of years, the one-two punch from Abel and Timmer has created some of bass music’s instant classics. Tracks like “Harambe,” “Africa,” and “Home” have become mainstays on the biggest bass stages across the world and show no sign of slowing down.
This summer and fall, Dion Timmer will join Excision at both of the later’s festivals, Bass Canyon and Lost Lands, taking place in Washington and Ohio respectively.
Breaking Through by Excision and Dion Timmer will be released June 21st. You can pre-save the EP here.

Swedish DJ Mikael Nordgren, better known as Tiger Stripes, makes his return to Drumcode with a new EP, ‘Into Desolation‘. The five track EP is yet another huge release from Tiger Stripes on Drumcode, following up on 2018’s ‘Insanity’ EP.
Tiger Stripes is no stranger to the techno scene. Long heralded as one of the most authentic and original figures in the industry, its no wonder his tracks are a staple across the globe. His career has seen releases on some of the biggest labels, including Drumcode, Truesoul, Hot Creations, and Desolat. Nevertheless, its his strong connection with Adam Beyer and the Drumcode / Truesoul labels which really stands out.
What’s particularly impressive with ‘Into Desolation’ is Tiger Stripes’ ability to create 5 unique tracks, each with its own distinct sound. The EP kicks off with ‘Recluse‘, featuring a bassline you won’t forget and a set of exhilarating vocals. ‘Ignition‘ is another memorable track which you’ve definitely heard throughout the festival season this summer. However, the most mesmerizing track on this EP (in our opinion) goes to ‘Until The Early Light‘. The track features deep compression-heavy bass stabs and a soothing vocal backdrop.
Tiger Stripes had a chance to chat with EARMILK recently to discuss the inspiration for the track ‘Recluse’: “Recluse is about escaping reality, going to your favorite place. To leave the fuss behind, I go to my summer house, deep inside the Swedish woods. There by the lake, living like a Recluse for a few days, I set up a mini studio and finished the track.”
Without a doubt, the ‘Into Desolation’ EP is set to be a hit. Its safe to say we’ve certainly been enjoying the impact Tiger Stripes has had on Adam Beyer’s various labels. That begs the question, will we be seeing a collab between the two anytime soon?
Check out the EP below!
