Avicii may have passed, but his legacy lives on.

When news broke of Avicii‘s passing earlier this year, it shook the music world and offered a rude awakening. Since his death, fans and the industry alike have made sure that his music will live on. In addition to all the awards he won throughout his lifetime, he has also posthumously won awards in the remainder of 2018.

Earlier this year he won the MTV Video Music Award (VMA) for “Lonely Together” which featured Rita Ora. Following that, his father collected an award from the Swedish Rockbjörnen Gala in Stockholm for best Swedish song of the year for “Without You.” Now, he has earned another accolade with the MTV Europe Music Award (EMA) for Best Swedish Act.

Avicii (real name Tim Bergling) rose to stardom with his 2011 anthem, “Levels.” After his tragic passing in April 2018 under disturbing circumstances, his fans and industry figureheads alike came together to honor his memory. From heart-touching tributes during DJ sets on the largest stages around the world to tribute tracks dedicated to him, they did it all. His website was also turned into a digital memorial through which his fans, friends and industry colleagues to leave notes and memories on “The Avicii Memory Board.”

The Swedish DJ and producer also rose in his ranks on this years DJ Mag Top 100 DJ’s poll and landed at #15 spot – 13 places up from the previous year.

Bergling wasn’t the only DJ/producer to pick up an award at the EMAs this year. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike won for Best Belgian Act and Marshmello was named as the Best Electronic Artist. The full list of winners can be seen here.
