ZHU – Jet, The Doberman

At the tail of end of 2017, ZHU accidentally (on purpose) dropped his track “Jet, The Doberman,” before swiftly removing it from all of his accounts shortly after. The initial, short-lived release provided a nice tease for fans, and now we have once again been gifted with the track, which, like the first time, will still only be available for a limited time. In conjunction with yesterday’s release of his ‘Year of the Dog‘ merchandise line, Zhu has re-released “Jet, the Doberman” on his Soundcloud, but it will only available for streaming while the clothing line is available from February 12th until the 26th.

The track begins with the aggressive bark of a Doberman, setting the tone for the dark and moody track that is to follow. ZHU unleashes some trap inspired horns, underlayed with a flute-like melody, as he brings 808s and varying new elements into the mix at just the right times. “Jet, The Doberman” will slot nicely into a ZHU live set; he tours with live horns, and the dark trap vibe will provide a different type of energy to go along with ZHU’s typically hard-hitting house based productions. You can take a look at the ‘Year of the Dog’ merch collection here, and make sure to listen to the track on Soundcloud below before it is removed in a couple weeks.

Barely Alive & Virtual Riot & PhaseOne & Myro – Rampage

Barely Alive, Virtual Riot, PhaseOne and Myro have come together for a huge collaboration titled “Rampage” to promote their B2B2B2B set at the upcoming Rampage Festival in Antwerp, Belgium. The song is a 4-minute back-and-forth bouncing distinctly between each artist’s style.

The beginning sets the tone, but ultimately the meat of the track comes after the first drop. Starting off with Myro’s style, it moves between Barely Alive, Virtual Riot and PhaseOne’s styles. A criticism of the track is simply that it does not sound very fresh, reminiscent of ‘Make It Bun Dem‘, the Skrillex and Damian Marley collaboration from 2012. That said, each artist is close enough in their own feel that the track still flows. The drops don’t feel out of place, the tone is consistent and ultimately, it is impressive that a mix of four artists can produce a truly coherent piece.

Rampage Festival takes place on March 2nd and 3rd at Antwerp’s Sportpaleis. It is a sold out, two day drum ‘n’ bass and dubstep weekend featuring some of the genres most well known producers, from Dirtyphonics to Pendulum and Flux Pavilion.

Check out the track on Soundcloud below:

An Audien & Arty Collaboration Could Be In the Works

arty audienAudien and Arty, two of the world’s most beloved producers, might finally get together in the studio. After spending a number of years on Anjunabeats, these two producers never seemed to have found the time to collaborate together. That looks like it’s about to change.

In a series of tweets, Audien and Arty have created a bit of stir. Audien tweeted out “what if we recharged ourselves as often as we recharge our phones” with Arty responding about finally collabing after waiting three years to finally do it. I don’t know about you but I’m excited to see this finally happen. Check out the tweets below.

Madison Square Garden Plans An Incredible Sphere Concert Venue in Vegas

madison square garden

On Thursday at Radio City Music Hall, James Dolan unveiled a futuristic plan for a new arena. Dolan is the head honcho for Madison Square Garden, arguably the world’s best arena, right in the heart of New York City. The new arena will be the ‘MSG Sphere‘, an 18,500 seat venue to be built in Las Vegas. The arena is due to be completed by 2020, only two years away.  Dolan said, “No longer is the venue a place to spectate. It’s a place to go and participate”. The concept is that of the performers and audience being more connected through the next generation of transformative, immersive experiences.

According to Variety, “The venues’ features are expected to include a spherical shape, which will become the main attraction of MSG Sphere venues; ridiculous VIP-type amenities options a height of more than 360 feet and equator width of more than 500 feet. Technologies will include a fully programmable exterior, creating a digital showcase for brands, artists, events, and partners; an interior bowl that features the largest and highest current resolution media display; a custom spherical camera system; a dynamically adaptive acoustics system that will deliver crystal-clear audio to every guest; and a new architecture for wireless connectivity.”

This is flat out awesome. In an age of constantly changing technology, Madison Square Garden honcho James Dolan has put his money into music. You know that dance music and technology go hand in hand, with a large amount of producers bringing an excellent live show. Las Vegas is a forefront for big names, and you can expect the sphere to be a new type of live entertainment that will once again bring dance music to a whole new level in live show experience.

Illenium x Kill The Noise – Don’t Give Up On Me (feat. Mako)

Well folks, the day has finally arrived. Illenium and Kill The Noise have dropped their long awaited collaboration “Don’t Give Up On Me” featuring Mako. This track has been on our radar ever since both Kill the Noise and Illenium premiered it at Lost Lands back in September. Within the first couple seconds, you can already feel how ridiculous this track is going to be.

The beginning is ominous, building up through the first verse before Kill The Noise steps in with a healthy dose of dubstep about a minute in. As we go deeper into the track, you can hear the undertones of Illenium’s melodic beats begin to join the mix; soft, beautiful, and peaceful. Illenium takes control of the breakdown between drops, flawlessly incorporating a euphoric and calming energy into the track. The second verse kicks in with a similar buildup to the first, this time welcoming a fusion of both Illenium’s euphoric production coupled with another round of Kill The Noise nastiness.

We honestly get so lost listening to this track. The fusion of contrasting production styles works so well in this song, not to mention how long we’ve been waiting to hear the full version. This song will definitely be on repeat for the rest of the day, and we hope you enjoy this new track as much as we do!

ZHU Unleashes Menacing New Single “Jet, The Doberman”

ZHU switches things up.

ZHU never fails to keep things interesting for his fans and preserve his mysterious online persona, while obviously managing to be constantly releasing quality music. From his latest stardustexhalemarrakechdreams EP, to his stunning remix of Camelphat‘s hit “Cola”, where he added his own vocals and lyrics, one can easily tell that ZHU isn’t simply still riding off the hype of his single “Faded” of even his debut album Generationwhy, but is still progressing as an artist and trying out new things.

A little before NYE, he was sending a new private track to new subscribers of The Blacklizt; a track that has now been released as “Jet, The Doberman”. Although it maintains the classic ZHU touch, it less resembles his usual releases and more the track “Exhale” out of his stardustexhalemarrakechdreams EP.

Jet, The Doberman is essentially everything one looks out for in a classic Trap banger. Deep samples and a dark atmosphere set the mood before the familiar plucks, brass hits and booming 808s are introduced and a hard Trap beat takes over. Interestingly enough, ZHU’s vocals are not featured on the track, but he makes up for it with the use of a vocal sample that dominates the second drop.

ZHU also introduced some new limited edition Year Of The Dog merch to go with the release that you can check out here

New Chainsmokers ID Coming in Hot Live From Prague [Watch]

While the track might potentially be called “Everybody Hates Me,” we’re pretty sure the tracks gonna garner the boys only love!

They have an avid fan base, but with fame comes the haters – as always. Whether you love ’em or hate ’em, The Chainsmokers are here to stay. And with every new release, they only keep reinforcing that.

With the release of “Sick Boy” earlier this year, the guys changed their sound up a bit and showed us a darker sound as compared to their pop anthems from the years gone by. Still keeping the electronic essence, the new sound is nothing like we’ve heard from the boys in the past.

With a complete rebrand taking over their socials before dropping “Sick Boy” and then the track and video that followed, it’s all but clear that Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart are taking The Chainsmokers in a new direction after the release of their debut album Memories…Do Not Open

Taking that another notch forward, just last night the boys played their first headlining show in Prague and they finished it off in style with some new material thrown in, in good measure.

While a fan happened to capture the performance of a new ID which could potentially be called “Everybody Hates Me” in its entirety, this new sound sure seems to be a direction the duo is heading into 2018 with. The same dark angle not only with the lyrics but also the sound, all held together with an electronic hook perfect to keep it dance floor and radio ready, is this the new Chainsmokers?

With no release date in sight, I guess all we have is this fan video courtesy YouTube user D4NY to go by for now to hear this new jam! Check it out and tell us what you think. Could this track be taking us one step “Closer” to a brand new Chainsmokers album what with the rebrand and the new found sound? Well, we’ll just wait for it and hope they “Don’t Let Me(us) Down!”

Tundran – Every Wave (Flapo Remix)

In the long list of producers that you should definitely be following, Colombian producer Flapo should rank highly. And for a good reason. He consistently puts out high quality work to critical acclaim. Just last month he released a killer remix of rapper Thutmose’s track, ‘Wuwu‘. And now he’s back to add one more track to his remix collection. This time he’s lending his talents to Tundran’s track ‘Every Wave‘.

He takes the super chilled-out, atmospheric original and gives it just the right amount of bounce to keep the track moving and interesting. The resulting remix is just as vibey as the original but is so much more enjoyable to listen to. Make sure to grab your copy for free in the link below and be on the lookout for his next remix.
