Diplo Becomes One Of The First To Destroy The New iPhone X

With the new innovations on the iPhone X, it was expected that everyone would try to get their hands on one a quickly as possible. This was no different for dance industry forerunners, such as Diplo, and many others, who snagged theirs within the first week of the phone’s release. However, in Diplo’s case, this frenzy was short lived as he shared with the world that he has already shattered his iPhone X.

While paintballing with friends during his birthday weekend this past weekend, Diplo took a shot right where he held his phone in his pocket. Although shielding him from physical pain, the phone was unsuccessful of protecting him from heart pain as the impact of the shot shattered his new iPhone’s screen. It has been reported that the iPhone X has the most delicate screen of any iPhone ever released. You can check out Diplo’s post of his iPhone below.

Bobby Blakdout – Mania

Robert Lindsey, also known as Bobby Blakdout, just dropped his brand new single called “Mania“. Released by Blak’d Out Records, the dubstep track features a spooky and edgy vibe that gives it a unique twist. It will remind you of a movie soundtrack and the energy in the song is on fire. Fans are digging its originality, which makes it distinct and memorable. The rising DJ/producer has definitely taken dubstep to another level with this one.

“Mania” begins with the piano solo that will lead to the eerie and grungy vocals. Afterwards, it will transition to the drumming beats of the build up. Once the drop releases, it will sweep you away with its dirty and powerful synths. The alternative sounds blend well together as it resembles the dark theme of the track. Overall, Bobby Blakdout created a killer tune and we can’t wait to see what he’ll do next. Check out and vibe to “Mania” below.

Marshmello Lands on Forbes 30 Under 30 2018

It’s been a big year for the masked producer Marshmello. From earning Monstercat a platinum record with ‘Alone’, to pop hits ‘Silence’ and ‘Wolves’ and a massive tour, he has become ubiquitous. The latest achievement under his belt comes from Forbes: a spot on the 30 Under 30 list for the music industry. The magazine also officially revealed once and for all who is behind the mask.

The independent, anonymous DJ-producer may perform behind a white marshmallow mask, but he has still notched some 2 billion streams. Born Chris Comstock, Marshmello is one of the world’s highest-paid DJs thanks to more than 170 live shows in 12 months and a bigger take-home on music and merch than other DJs. – Forbes.com

It has always been a poorly kept secret that the man behind the mask was Chris Comstock or Dotcom, and Forbes previously dug deep into his identity when he was listed as the #8 Highest Paid DJ in 2018. Marshmello’s ‘Silence’ collaborator Khalid also earned a spot the list for his own personal achievements.

Marshmello is a fairly polarizing figure to fans of EDM, some producers like deadmau5 openly oppose his style of music, and others welcome it for its easy listening. At the end of the day Marshmello just wants to make good music and make people happy, and that’s something that everyone should be able to get behind. His success only points to the fact that his plan is working and we are all…Marshmello.

EDM Classic Track Revived as Theme Song for Miami Hurricanes Comeback

As some of you might’ve heard, the University of Miami (or The U) is back to its winning ways. This past weekend, we saw them trounce their long-time rival Notre Dame 41-8 in Miami. What you might not have heard is how hyped the students at The U are.

In the most Miami thing ever, a classic EDM track has become the unofficial song of the comeback. In a new viral video posted on Instagram by the account 5th Year, a group of students were tailgating and things got pretty wild. The video has racked up over 200,000 views and counting. And if you turn the volume up in the video, it sounds like the students found the perfect theme song for their resurgent football program. The iconic Steve AngelloMax Vangeli & AN21 remix to Pendulum song ‘The Island’ can be heard blaring through the sound system. And right as the bass drops, so does the table. Looks like ‘The Island’ will be heard quite often before the season ends. I’ll let you guys watch it for yourselves.

Incase you forgot the U is BACK. Send. It. @barstoolmiami

Zedd Featured on the Cover of Forbes’ 30 Under 30

Before reguarly scoring six-figure DJ gigs, Zedd got his start in the music industry in 2002, when he began playing for the German deathcore band Dioramic, signed by Lifeforce Records. His transition to electronic music was all thanks to the album  by the French electronic duo, Justice.

Throughout the years, Zedd has gained world-wide popularity for his music, collaborations, and live shows. At the 56th Grammy Awards, the producer won for Best Dance Recording for his song, “Clarity”. Now, he has a new achievement to add to his list of accomplishments. Not only was he featured on the 30 Under 30 list, but he was also given the cover.

“I see myself as an artist who presents a show,” says Zedd, who earned $19 million this year and $85 million over the past five. “It’s almost like when you go to the movies. You’re not going to buy your ticket and see a movie and, if you don’t like it, expect the movie to change in real time.”

To set himself apart from competitors, the producer uses a graphics-heavy live show that feels like watching a videogame. “It used to be really cheap to make a show–I used to be able to keep all the money,” Zedd recalls. “Now the shows cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.”

However, as success continues and costs rise, Zedd is considering the idea of turning to live instrumentation. “I think I will one day go unplugged.”

Watch and see why his live shows earned him the cover of Forbes:

Goldenvoice Separates From FYF Founder Sean Carlson

The LA-based concert promoter Goldenvoice has decided to end its relationship with Sean Carlson. Goldenvoice is the promoter behind festivals like Coachella and FYF, the latter being an event that Carlson founded.

An email came from Goldenvoice CEO Paul Tollett reading:

“Effective immediately, Goldenvoice has ended its relationship with Sean Carlson, were evaluating our path forward as it relates to FYF Fest”.

Carlson started FYF as a punk rock-oriented festival in 2004. It has since blown up to be one of the biggest events in the country. He hired Goldenvoice in 2011 to help with running the event as it grew larger in size. This year’s festival had performances from Missy Elliot, Nine Inch Nails, A Tribe Called Quest and many more.

Tollett has not provided an explanation to the public as to why the split happened, so we can only speculate. More info on this is sure to come out in the near future – keep an eye out here as it comes.

EDC Mexico 2018 Lineup Features Deadmau5, Eric Prydz, & More

EDC MexicoInsomniac Events keeps throwing the best gigs, whether it’s in the US or overseas. Now, the lineup of EDC Mexico 2018 has just been announced, and we can assure you, you will definitely want to book your flights to Mexico after reading this.

For next year’s edition, EDC Mexico has already confirmed the presence of some of the biggest names in the current dance music industry: Above & Beyond, Eric Prydz, Cirez D, Cristoph, Gammer, Headhunterz, Illenium, Marshmello, and Vini Vici, these are only some of the headliners for this major celebration. And, as the flyer announces, the biggest headliner of all will also be present: You.

But there is another performer who called our attention as soon as we saw him on the list: Joel Thomas Zimmerman, also known as Deadmau5. Why is this such a surprise? Well, in case you haven’t heard, things have been a bit tense over the last few years between Joel and Insomniac Events’ founder, Pasquale Rotella. It got to the point where Deadmau5 has not performed at any EDC event for 5 years, and both of them were engaged in some sort of passive argument on the social media. Seems like those differences are set behind us now, and we are happy to see them doing business again and bringing joy to all the EDM Community.

With more than 120 artists on scene, EDC Mexico is considered to be the country’s largest electronic music festival. The upcoming issue seems to be the most promising up to date, and, with the occasion of the 5th year anniversary, Insomniac is preparing an incredible infrastructure with a top quality sound system and stages that will amuse all of your senses. EDC México will be held on February 24th and 25th, at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, in Mexico City. Tickets can already be purchased through its official website here.

Tiësto & Sevenn – Boom (Snavs Remix)

Boom

Tiësto & Sevenn – Boom (Snavs Remix)

Snavs has established himself as a successful DJ/producer remixing and producing some trap and dubstep gems. He has now come out with his latest rework of the monstrously popular track ‘Boom‘. Tiesto‘s and Sevenn‘s brainchild was released earlier this year and has since become a major hit.

The remix is an interesting take on the original. Where the original is more of a deep house number this one takes the path of a more start-stop tune which Snav‘s trademark. His brave effort seems to have paid off as the song has inculcated a fresh element of trap music with the original’s spirit still driving it through. So, turn up the volume and put those bass-tubes to work with this bouncy tune. Listen to it below.
