Above & Beyond’s Jono Has Some Predictions For 2018

2018 has barely just begun to unfold and Jono Grant, one third of the trance legends, Above & Beyond, has taken to twitter to give his take and make thirty predictions on how 2018 will go on various subjects and themes.

It is super interesting to hear Jono give his opinion on various of these subjects, but what do you think? How do you see 2018 unfolding this year? Where is this exciting location going to be for ABGT 300? That news alone is sure to excite the Anjunafamily.

Consumers using Facebook less seems pretty likely as consumers are seeing more usage in other social media sites like Snapchat, Instagram and even Twitter.

Amazon buying everything it doesnt already own is looking like a possible positive prediction as prediction rumors has also begun to circulate around the web that they may look to take over retail chain Target this year.

Who is going to be the person mentioned that declares, “Trance is back”?

We’ll have to wait and see how this year unravels as it’s too early to tell now.

Bassnectar & His Team Respond to Fan Complaints About NYE Show

With die-hard fans comes great responsibility, just ask Eric Prydz, Armin van Buuren, Skrillex, Porter Robinson, or Bassnectar. Each of these artists has built a community around their music and their experiences and sometimes it can be difficult to keep all of the fans happy at all times. This year for NYE, Bassnectar took his 360 arena show out of the arena and moved it to Atlanta’s massive World Congress Center. As with any large event, and this one hosted 21k people, there are bound to be some hiccups. However, Lorin’s fan community was more than displeased.

From Lorin’s dedicated fan Facebook Group to his subreddit, fans were complaining about everything from the set list to the lines, production, water, concessions, and even the other fans in attendance. The uproar was so loud that Bassnectar’s team and Lorin himself shared a detailed message to address the complaints.

The most notable point was the complaints about lines getting into the venue, because Bassnectar’s team explained that in today’s environment there was little that could be done to improve things. With risk of shootings and terrorism, complying with state and Federal regulations requires procedures that are simply going to take a long time. Their best advice? Get there earlier if you want quick entry.

However the team also addressed complaints about water availability information, and drug/health awareness. Then Lorin himself posted his own message addressing fan complaints about the music selection. He explained that it’s his music and his art to do as he sees fit, and the complainers can go elsewhere. You can see the entire message below.

**Full disclosure: This writer attended the show, and although some hiccups with long lines did occur the show was fantastic in my humble opinion.**

The Chainsmokers Unveil New Logo for 2018

2017 was a big year for many dance music artists, including the Chainsmokers. And while you may have mixed feelings on the DJ duo turned live band, The Chainsmokers certainly had a successful year. They released their debut album Memories…Do Not Open, and sold out the US leg of their tour of the same name. As 2018 begins, the duo is set to embark on the European leg of the same tour, and are also teasing a rebranded logo for the new year.

As the duo gets started on their 2018 adventures, they updated their Instagram profile picture (see below) with a haunting updated bio simply reading, “How many likes is my life worth?” One thing we do know is that the duo plans to release new music this year, so perhaps this rebrand is hinting at a new sound they’re hoping to roll out. Whatever it may be, look for The Chainsmokers do make their presence known in 2018.

Markus Schulz Proposes to Longtime Girlfriend Adina Butar

2017 was an exciting year for Markus Schulz aka the “Unicorn Slayer.” In 2017 he showed off his Dakota alias with the release of a second album titled The Nine Skies, which was just released in December. Dakota is a much darker and emotional sound, something one would hear as we go down the rabbit hole with him on his all day or night events.

In typical fashion, Schulz had is Global DJ Broadcast (GDJB) big event podcasts including the Sunrise Festival, city series, and Transmission, to include some of the well known tunes he jams out to weekly.  He closed 2017 with a magnum 10 hour open-to-close set at Avalon Nightclub in Hollywood, but he surprised fans with much more than his music during the event. While playing his epic emotional track “Destiny,” Schulz invited his longtime girlfriend Adina Butar on stage and proposed to Butar.

What a way and what a setting to pop the question. Fans can surely be excited for the news of this engagement, and we all say Happy New Year and good luck and wish the newly engaged couple luck!

Waiting For Winter – Gabriel & Dresden ((Talla 2XLC Uplifting Rework)

German trance producer Talla 2XLC has given a new flavor to one of Gabriel & Dresden‘s newest tracks. The American duo released their first album in eleven years and there has been a buzz ever since. Now fans of The Only Road will be able to enjoy one of its songs with a new high energy twist. The Talla 2XLC uplifting rework of “Waiting For Winter” featuring Jan Burton gives the track a fast paced feel that is perfect for the dance floor.

While the original “Waiting for Winter” holds its own, this rework takes it to a new level. Like any good uplifting track, Talla’s rework breaks down for the heartfelt chorus. As the energy builds back up, a progression of synth chords brings the listener to an elevated emotional state, heightening the significance of the lyrics. The airy melodies not only drive the song forward but also make it impossible to feel negative.

Expect to hear this in Talla and Gabriel & Dresden sets for a while! Listen to the SoundCloud edit of Talla’s remix of Gabriel and Dresden below. Which do you think is better, the original or the uplifting remix?

Slushii Teases New Collaboration with Marshmello

Slushii Marshmello

On the first day of January, my DJ gave to me…

Ah, January. The time of year where everyone makes resolutions and promises they know they won’t keep. However, it’s also the time of year where producers create and release new music, tease upcoming releases, and announce tours.

With only one day of January passing by, Slushii has already teased us with a new track. This time, it’s with Marshmello.

The preview is a whole minute long, and it seems as though it was previewed to all those fans in attendance at The Ritz Ybor in Tampa, Florida for New Year’s Eve.

Also from the preview, it seems like this collaboration holds a lot more potential than their previous collaboration, “Twinbow”, which unfortunately, did not live up to the hype.

It is also apparent that Marshmello may have put his own vocals on the track, as the vocal similarities between the preview and his track “You & Me” are extremely apparent.

While there is no song title or release date, we’re sure they’re on their way soon. For now, you can listen to the preview, thanks to Slushii via Twitter:

Troyboi hopped across the pond to test out his new “Hey Boi” ID on two of the wildest festivals the US has to offer during NYE, SnowGlobe Music Festival, then again at Decadence NYE in Denver, Colorado. Different place, same reaction.

He’s fresh off tour, and has successfully finagled his way into music lovers’ hearts with debut album Left Is Right. TroyBoi, born Troy Henry blends Indian, Chinese, Portuguese, Nigerian and English sound elements, brewing together into what many may call a trap flavor profile; Henry prefers #MyStyle. You can check out the videos below to hear Troyboi’s latest ID, and we can’t wait for all the new music this new year will bring!

Deadmau5’s Testpilot Concludes N.Y. Debut With “Levels”

Testpilot

Deadmau5’s Testpilot techno alias closes with Avicii’s “Levels”

Techno titillater Testpilot murdered his 180-minute inaugural New York spectacle at Brooklyn’s nightclub Depot 52 Warehouse on Saturday, Dec. 30. He spun “Sometimes Things Get Complicated,” “I Remember,” “FML,” “Ghosts N Stuff,” “Strobe,” Prodigy‘s “Smack My Bitch Up,” Rick and Morty‘s “Show Me What You Got” sample and Avicii‘s “Levels“?

The kicker is when Testpilot/Deadmau5/Joel Zimmerman tickled fans’ fancy, commanding them to

“Wait for the drop.

Here it comes.

It’s coming!”

Afterwards, Zimmerman put down the mic, cut a rug and shotgunned one too many brewskis. Epic.

Deadmau5 premiered persona Testpilot side-by-side Richie Hawtin on March 12, 2013 at Stubb’s BBQ in Austin, Texas amidst SXSW.
